Jerry Noyes a.k.a.
"Weej" -- our long-time bassist / vocalist,
musical brother and friend -- passed away unexpectedly in June, 2004
after a brief illness.
He started out in the 60's as the
bass player for a local Portland-area hippie band called the Warloks
(not to be confused with the other Warlocks from
San
Francisco, who later changed their name to the Grateful Dead)... If
you ever went to a show at the Crystal Ballroom in downtown Portland
anytime in 1967 or '68, you undoubtedly saw them open for one of the
many national acts that headlined there. Jerry first joined Seymour
in 1970,
after Uncle Sam came up with other plans for one of the founding
members. That period (from late
1970 until early 1972, at which time the members of Seymour decided
to go
their separate ways) was a phase during which the band produced
a great volume of creative work, and also enjoyed a modicum of success
in the Portland "hippie music" scene. Jerry rejoined the band in
1992,
and was our regular bassist from then until his passing. Play on, brother. |
